SYDNEY AUSTRALIA- Being a dog breeder I always get Dog Training questions from my customers. Questions ranging from simple trivial things, to serious stuff, like aggressive, dominant dogs. Although I had my ways of dealing with these issues, out of curiosity, I began to do extensive research into Dog Training. Through this research I met Andrew Damchev, a much respected dog trainer from Melbourne.
Andrew's philosophy is that every dog is trainable. The more "untrainable" the dog is perceived to be. The more he enjoys the challenge of working out how the dog thinks and why it behaves the way it does.

This was very important to me after another local "Dog Trainer" said I should Put My Dog To Sleep because he wouldn't walk on the lead. I mean this dog would FREAK OUT as soon as any pressure was put on the lead and then just sit there in PANICKED FEAR. After a one hour personal lesson and $100 of my hard earned cash, this so called trainer couldn't work out how to stop this from happening.
She Then Said I Should Put My Dog
Down. Basically... KILL HIM!
There was NO WAY IN HELL; I was going to put My Dog down!
Dog training shouldn't be this hard!
That's what I like about Andrew, he would never say that ... plus he is an Absolute Wizard with dogs, although his dog training methods are unusual they work on Every Type of dog!
After telling Andrew about the situation, he suggested that I take another dog for a walk with this "un-walkable" dog. He said that the other dog will distract him from the leash being around his neck, plus give him confidence, and that he should just follow the other dog. I admit I was skeptical after having been told by the previous dog trainer that my dog was impossible to "fix!" Well Andrew was right... that was exactly what happened... he settled down and just followed her as if he never had a problem with the lead... I was amazed and I didn't go back to that other so called trainer again. (Now that's what I call dog training!)
